Restaurant Vent Hood Cleaning

In other areas of the site, we talk about the different things that go into the entire process of cleaning your kitchen exhaust system from head to toe in a way or from the grill to the roof in this case. Still, we want to make sure that you understand what goes into vent and hood cleaning in restaurant kitchens. Also, we will let you know how often we recommend that you have your hood cleaned. There are actually certain regulations that the state of Michigan has that you are going to need to follow. At the end of the day, we hope that the information that we are able to provide gives you a better idea of what you should choose when it comes to cleaning your hood!
Is Cleaning Just The Hood Enough?
This is something that a lot of people want to know and to be honest there is a certain lack of proper information out there. As we mention throughout the site hood cleaning is a process. Actually going in and scrapping grease off the hood is part of the process. Pressure washing the vent is also part of the process. If you are looking to get the best results you will have to go through all of the little details that we provide!
Daily Cleaning Can Be Too Much
We have seen restaurant owners trying to cheat the system a little bit. What they will do is have some of their workers pressure wash the hood on a daily basis and things like that. The thing is a lot of times too much washing can actually be unhealthy for the system. Since we are talking about a steel vent most of the times if this is an area that is constantly wet, and then you add the usual wear and tear of smoke, grease, fire, whatever you want to call it. The vent may start to rust, and crack. It is certainly a balancing act through and through!
When To Make The Call
For the most part, we are going to recommend that restaurants have their hoods cleaned around every 3 months. If you are doing this correctly over the course of the year we don’t anticipate that you are going to have too much trouble at all. One thing that we have to keep in mind though is that these systems are not eternal. So, after a good amount of years, they will not work as well regardless of the type of maintenance they are getting. If you start seeing signs of rust and things like that you may want to make the call within the 3 month period.
Preventing Fires & Floods
When we go ahead pressure wash your vent we will make sure that we can handle the amount of water that we are going to use. At times there are companies that won’t take into account the fact that the water is going to end up falling on the grill and in the whole kitchen in general. We keep your kitchen dry!
